We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Test Process Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining semiconductor test manufacturing processes within our Component Test organization.
Position Summary
The Test Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading engineering activities that enable world-class performance in semiconductor test manufacturing. This role drives process capability, yield improvement, product quality, manufacturing readiness, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across Component Test operations.
The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers focused on process qualification, process control, defect reduction, equipment-process interactions, manufacturing validation, data analytics, and technology deployment. This role collaborates extensively with Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Equipment Engineering, Supplier Quality, Industrial Engineering, and global site teams.
This position requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, people leadership, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership and Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Test Process Engineers.
Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
Establish individual and team objectives aligned with business priorities.
Support recruiting, onboarding, talent development, and succession planning activities.
Drive employee engagement and continuous learning initiatives.
Test Process Engineering
Own process engineering strategy and execution for Component Test manufacturing operations.
Lead process development, process qualification, and process optimization activities.
Establish and maintain robust process controls and engineering standards.
Monitor and improve process capability through statistical analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
Ensure process consistency and standardized execution across manufacturing operations.
Yield Improvement and Quality Excellence
Lead yield improvement initiatives utilizing structured root cause analysis methodologies.
Drive rapid response and containment activities for quality and reliability excursions.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
Partner with Product Engineering and Quality teams to improve manufacturing performance and outgoing quality.
Utilize statistical methods and advanced analytics to reduce variation and improve process stability.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Lead manufacturing process readiness activities for new products and technology transitions.
Support qualification planning, execution, validation, and production ramp activities.
Conduct technical risk assessments and establish mitigation plans.
Drive successful transfer of engineering solutions into high-volume manufacturing.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to deploy best practices and enable rapid scaling.
Process Control and Manufacturing Excellence
Define key process indicators and monitoring systems.
Establish process control plans, reaction plans, and qualification strategies.
Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Improve cycle time, productivity, equipment utilization, and manufacturing efficiency.
Support factory automation and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Equipment and Technology Integration
Partner with Equipment Engineering teams on equipment qualifications, upgrades, and process optimization.
Analyze equipment-process interactions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Support recipe governance, process standardization, and technology transfers.
Drive implementation of new manufacturing technologies and innovative engineering solutions.
Data Analytics and Digital Transformation
Utilize advanced analytics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Develop dashboards and reporting solutions to improve engineering decision-making.
Apply statistical process control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and data science methodologies.
Leverage AI-assisted analytics and digital tools to improve operational effectiveness.
Safety, Compliance, and Operational Discipline
Promote a safety-first culture within the organization.
Ensure compliance with Micron quality systems, environmental health and safety requirements, and business processes.
Support internal and external audits.
Drive operational excellence and risk mitigation programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, test engineering, process engineering, product engineering, or related technical disciplines.
3+ years of experience leading engineering teams, projects, or technical organizations.
Strong knowledge of semiconductor test manufacturing processes and process control methodologies.
Experience in statistical analysis, yield improvement, and structured problem-solving techniques.
Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
Experience in memory, DRAM, NAND, SSD, or semiconductor backend manufacturing environments.
Experience supporting Component Test, Final Test, Burn-In, System Level Test, or Automated Test Equipment (ATE) operations.
Knowledge of SPC, DOE, FMEA, Control Plans, Risk Assessments, and Process Qualifications.
Experience with JMP, Minitab, Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics platforms.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
Experience leading multi-site and global engineering initiatives.
Experience applying AI-enabled analytics and manufacturing automation technologies.
